Security convergence is the coming together of two historically separate security tasks within enterprises physical security and information protection, both of which are crucial components of a well-rounded risk management approach. Convergence in security is driven by the realization that business assets are more and more information-based. Prior to now, physical assets required the majority of protection efforts, whereas information assets now require more focus. Security confluence can refer to the integration of security with associated risk and resilience disciplines, such as business continuity preparation and emergency management, despite the term being mostly employed in connection with cyber-physical convergence. 'Converged security' is a term that is frequently used to describe security convergence.
